L'Amoreaux L'Amoreaux is a neighbourhood in the eastern end of the city of Toronto. Situated east of Victoria Park Ave., south of McNicoll, west of Kennedy Road and north of Huntingwood Drive, L'Amoureaux is named after Josue L'Amoreaux, a French loyalist who settled in the area. Today the neighbourhood shows little French flavour, although it is quite diverse. Today there is a mix of ethnicity's with Chinese being the most predominant. South Asian and Chinese are the two biggest ethnic groups in the area and just under 20% of residents speak a Chinese language at home. The neighbourhood is middle class, and here one will find many tree lined streets, huge sidewalks and winding roads. There are many developments currently underway and others that have recently reached completion on vacated Ontario Hydro corridors. L'Amoreaux Collegiate Institute, designed by noted Canadian-Japanese architect Raymond Moriyama opened in the fall of 1973 to service the area's high school students.
